This is a series of posts from my road trip in 2011 where I traveled around the US and Canada giving talks, attending conferences, visiting IGDA chapters, networking, hanging out with friends, and dog sitting an adorable pug named Thomas!

Oh my!

So I woke up this morning with a headache and stuffed up sinuses and said to my husband “It feels like I’ve been sleeping on down pillows all night.”

Turns out after a quick check of the pillows, I had been. See in the past when I had stayed at Hampton Inns I was pretty sure all the bedding was hypoallergenic, so I didn’t even think to ask them about it when we made the stop in Cheyenne. What I found out from the gal at the front desk when I was checking out was that in those rooms across all Hampton Inns HALF the pillows will be hypo-allergenic and HALF will be down/feather. I could have sworn they promised “hypo-allergenic” or “feather free” rooms in some of their ads, but I guess I’ll know better for next time. *sigh*

So I was glad to get out of Cheyenne and into my air conditioned car to try and clear up some of my sinuses and the headache. Unfortunately when you’re driving straight west all you really get at a certain point is to face straight into the sun the whole time. Oh well, at least we were getting closer and closer to Salt Lake City, my real first big destination. Many hours later and a few unsets (what my husband and I are now calling when the sun sets behind a mountain but then elevation/road path changes make the sun “come back up” and be visible again) my husband and I finally arrived in Salt Lake City. I was very glad to be able to finally make it here in enough time to get some work done, get some sleep and prepare for the next’s days work of fine tuning my talk for IGDA SLC1. So with that I bid you all adieu once again. Until next time…

Stay Awesome!
